Centre told to act on plea to ban export of cotton

Justice P. Jyothimani of the Madras High Court has directed the Centre to dispose of in eight weeks, a representation of November last year by the Tamil Nadu Powerloom Federation Limited, Namakkal district, seeking a ban on export of cotton.
Officials of the state highways department on Monday clarified that the "minor cracks" that had appeared in the recently-inaugurated road over bridge (flyover) in Tambaram would be corrected in a week.

Actor Sarat Kumar who heads the Nadar party, AISMK (Akila Indiya Samathuva Makkal Katchi) said on Monday said he had not yet decided to join any political alliance and was keeping his options open. "We are strong in almost 60 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. So we have to win as much as seats in this election to press our demand. We will consider those who give us more seats," he said.
